This beautiful couple contacted me December of 2017 in a bit of a predicament. Their, original, wedding photographer, who is, actually, a very dear friend of mine, was not going to be able to photograph their wedding that following June and gave them my info as a possible replacement. I have to say, though the circumstances were not ideal for them (having to find new vendors so close to their wedding date - as I was not the only one), I’m so happy to have been put in their path. Missy and Ryan have the biggest hearts and have been an absolute joy to both work with and just get to know over the past year.
Their wedding was both stunning, meaningful and fun. I loved all of the personal details, history, and overwhelming love that these two put into their day. I, seriously, learned so much from them. Our conversations were a highlight of my year, for sure. I mean, if you’ve never met the Fortney’s - you really should. <3
Both the ceremony and the reception were held at the Elks Club in Waterloo, Iowa. Hair, makeup and mimosas were had at Jiva Salon Spa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Missy and Ryan had an Irish ‘themed’ wedding with Ryan sporting traditional Irish attire and Missy with ribbon and braids. Finalizing their vows with a hand binding ceremony and then a short walk to Jamison’s, Irish Pub before returning for the reception.
Feel free to comment below and congratulate them!

A special noteworthy vendor I feel inclined to point out is “Rach’s Cakes” out of Fairbank. THE most amazing donuts I have ever tasted. Within 20 minutes after the cake cutting, these donuts had been cleaned out. A very clear confirmation in that the “you can’t have just one” doesn’t stop at potato chips. Seriously, amazing. <3
