The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their sessions, I get asked all kids of questions; so I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!
Do you share my images?
My number one priority is making sure my clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir! It can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking. Sometimes you are learning to love your body and you aren't quite ready to share the images with the world, or these photos are specifically for your spouse aren't for any one else's eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, and it all depends on your personal preference. If there are photos that I would like to share, I will ask your permission first, and only share what you are comfortable with!
Do I have to wear lingerie?
You definitely do not have to wear lingerie. What you wear is totally up to you! There are so many cute outfit ideas that don't involve lacy little things! :)
Do you have payment plans?
Yes - I offer several payment options! There is a retainer due at the time of booking with the full balance due 2 weeks prior to your session date, so if you need more time to pay it off, just plan to schedule a few months in advance and schedule your payments appropriately! Let me know if this is something that you want to set up!
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup is included with all of my boudoir bundles! I believe the process of getting pampered is an important part of a boudoir session. If you're anything like me, it's a huge bonus to know you could, literally, roll out of bed just before your session and still look amazing for your photos. Taylor (my hair and makeup artist) has been perfecting her craft for as long as she can remember, and has been licensed for over 5 years. From subtle makeup to full on glam, she has you covered!
Do you photoshop my images?
My rule of thumb is to edit people how I see them. I think one of the reasons some of us have such a hard time looking at our own photos is because photos give us too much of an opportunity to study and pick out "imperfections". With the advancement of camera technology, there are a lot of details that the camera will pick up on that the naked eye would not. I like to make sure your focus goes to YOU not on anything else. This is just my style and how I would like my own photos to be edited; that being said, if you'd rather not have any editing done, just let me know. I'm happy to accommodate you in however you feel most comfortable. :)
Where should I buy outfits?
There are a few places to buy outfits - many of which will depend on the style of outfits you want. My, personal, recommendations include the following:
*Victoria's Secret
*Venus.com
*Forever21
*Adoreme.com
*Torrid
*eberjay.com
*Aerie
*foreveryourslingerie.ca
*hipsandcurves.com
*jasminestaceycollection.co
I've even had clients who have had good luck getting things from Amazon and Shein.com
"Okay, so I've had all of these photos taken...now what do I do with them??"
Whatever you want! Honestly, the most popular options are albums or photo boxes as they're more discrete. I've also had women who purchase a large print and hide it behind their (or their husband's) clothes in the closet. Or flaunt your photos! I have mine hung in my bedroom to remind me that the woman in those photos exists under my baggy sweat pants, messy hair and smudged glasses.
Do you offer digitals?
All of my bundles include some sort of print product and matching digital files. There are also A La Carte options that you can choose from that include digital files as well. Files can come on both a flash drive or a password protected online gallery for you to download and share. <3
I'm freaking out! How can I calm my nerves??
Nerves are all part of the experience! I think it would be weird if you WEREN'T nervous, at some level. The nervousness in the beginning of your session will make your "WOW" moment, when seeing your photos for the first time, soooo much better.
How many outfits should I bring?
This depends on your bundle. I tend to recommend bringing more than enough options to play with, you might be surprised by what combinations we come up with that end up looking amazing.
Side note: Don't forget accessories!! Heels, long socks, jewelry, etc. I do have options to select from, however, it's always more personal / intimate when using your own.
Should I arrive to my session early?
You should always plan on arriving about 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time so we can talk about your outfits / colors and create a plan for hair and makeup!
Where is your studio located?
My studio is, currently, located at 1821 Lincoln Street in Cedar Falls, however, this location is subject to change as I also partner with local AirBNB providers to add variety to my boudoir sessions. :)
