When we get nervous, we make excuses. We make excuses not to love ourselves or take care of ourselves. Sometimes life is just busy; work is crazy, home is crazy, we feel like we need to spend more time with our spouse. We tell ourselves "I want to lose weight first" or "I just can't justify the expense right now". I wanted to write this to show you all that no matter the excuse, you CAN do it! Let me show you that no matter the excuse, you are worthy of self love!
I don't have enough time for myself
It's also important to remember that is you aren't taking care of yourself mentally, you're not going to be able to handle taking care of everyone else. I think we all 'know' this, but actually implementing it into our daily lives is much easier said than done. I always swore that my health would be kept a priority as life progressed. I kept it going through one kid, but as soon as kid #2 happened, not only did the chaos increase, so did carbs, preservatives and caffeine! That being said, I can sometimes be the worst at making sure I am giving myself mental health breaks and that's why I think it's so important to share this with you all. I make the same excuses as above and sometimes I need someone to look me in the face and say, "SLOW DOWN, give yourself a break, and breathe for a minute!"
With boudoir sessions, you're able to breathe and love yourself for a change. Think of all the energy you'll save on a daily basis if you stop comparing yourself to others, or stop worrying about what other people will think of how you look. You get to see where your beauty really comes from and this lifts such a huge mental weight.
You need to take time for yourself, why not spend it getting pampered and feeling sexy / beautiful in your own skin?
I'm not where I want to be size wise
Did you know that the body type portrayed in advertising as the 'ideal' size is possessed naturally by only 5% of American females? Yes - FIVE percent!
We need to stop being so hard on ourselves.
I think it's great to have goals about getting healthy, but instead of hating our body throughout the process, show her a little love. Be proud of where you are as well as where you're going. Take some 'before' and 'after' boudoir photos to celebrate your amazing body during all phases of life. You might be surprised by how good you look even when you don't think you look 'good enough'. <3
I don't feel sexy anymore and don't think a boudoir session will change that
Maybe...but I'm more inclined to believe that's not true. ;)
In fact, if you feel that way, I would suggest even more so that you schedule a boudoir session for yourself. You can thank me later.
Often time we lose touch with our femininity or sexuality when life gets crazy due to health/kids/work. It happens a lot and it is absolutely normal and okay! A great way to find this side of ourselves again is to see ourselves in that setting -- almost literally, 'fake it til you make it'! I promise, it works!
Something that I want to mention as I don't think many ladies realize that "boudoir" doesn't mean "wear uncomfortably revealing lingerie in front of a complete stranger for several hours" (haha! Don't deny it - I know you thought it on some level!). Boudoir is, actually, French for "A woman's bedroom or private room". As far as I'm concerned a woman can wear whatever she wants in her own room. If you want to wear and oversized sweater and some leggings, lingerie, your birthday suit or a pink rabbit footed pajamas...it's your session and I'm happy to photograph you however you feel most comfortable. <3
Boudoir sessions are too expensive for me right now
Yes, boudoir sessions are an investment...but it's an investment in yourself. You are investing in your well-being and confidence. I do offer payment plans and am happy to work with you if that's the only thing standing between you and the freedom that a boudoir session will provide. There is a retainer that is paid upon booking, however, after that, we can set up your payment plan for the remaining.
If you have any questions about payment plans, shoot me an email while setting up your session!
